Astronomy

This is how our story begins: Before the dawn of things, before distant cousins lost to counterparts were scattered by the dis-memberment of language by the ultimate voice over the inhabitants of the earth, thunder rolled over the face of the deep and lightning, that electronic conductor wrote kisses upon the pages of time. There was no earth or sky or sun or moon, there was no air or breath or life or form. The elements were in complet dis-array and merged and un-merged with each other quite at will, there was nothing and yet the universe was whole, waiting for the words that would awaken it. Above this nothingness, spirits decided to meet. These spirits served an entity which they in their entirety could not fathom. This entity was just, that is to say Present in everyway. It neither spoke nor moved, It did not live or die, It was, and since the concept of the record of events was yet to be born, it inhabited, embodied everything. So, before This Presence, the three things in the whole cosmos came to pay their allegiance. They called It father on those rare occasions when in communication among themselves. They did have mouths, lips and form, but speaking was not known to them and to say they communicated telepathically could be the closest thing to their approach of converse. The first to arrive at this meeting place was Ariel, a nymph-like cherub of pleasant essense who flew to the gathering place carrying a white bowl, his wings fluttering behind him gracefully, his limbs and shoulders perfectly smooth and angled. Arriving first, he set the dish down from which shone a bluish light, illuminating the place of the meet. He then sat next to his present awaiting the others. The next to come was what we could call an angel and he was known as Seth to the other two: he was dark feathered all over, fully muscled, taciturn and he arrived carrying a spear. A dark mane of hair covered his head, and he grimaced his greetings to Ariel who playfully nodded in his direction. Seeing the bowl beside him, Seth growled consciously and turned his back on the cherub. In the nothingness of the space around them, The Presence quite wakeful and watchful and yet not in any kind of concern, continued being. Last to arrive was Prism, a flambouyantly coloured spirit and he had taken the shape of what we would now call feminine, slender, tall, haughty faced with nine arms sprouting from the corners of her torso. She arrived carrying a leaf which she set down before the others with great flourish as if waiting on applause. Ariel tittered, Seth glowered, and The Presence continued being.
